SLASH (Sustainable Land And Safer Homes) Wildfire Mitigation:
Slash is debris, from nature, such as tree limbs, prunings and pine cones. If not removed, slash can add to potential fire hazards on your property. The importance of mitigating and preparing your property for wildfire cannot be overstated – and again this year, Jefferson County is your partner in this effort.
Removing slash and creating a defensible space around your home, is the first line of defense against wildfires. You can create zones around your home, removing any fire fuels, such as tree debris. Having a properly mitigated property doesn’t mean that wildfire will pass you by, but it gives the fire department a better opportunity to save your home when it does come. Great tips on how to protect your home and property can be found on the Jeffco Sheriff’s hazard mitigation page and at FireWise website. Jeffco’s CSU Extension also has a factsheet that can help homeowners plant low-flammability gardens.

Rooney Road Recycling Center
The Rooney Road Recycling Center is a safe place to take hazardous chemicals that may be a threat to people, public health and infrastructure, and the planet. The Rooney Road Recycling Center Authority is a group of nine local jurisdictions who operate the Rooney Road Recycling Center through an Intergovernmental Agreement.
By making the recycling center affordable, available, and accessible to Jefferson County residents (and Arvada residents in Adams County) we hope to keep our families, communities, and environment safe from harm.
By Appointment only, see details: https://www.rooneyroadrecycling.org/
Action Recycling
We are a Denver metro area recycling center paying competitive prices for non-ferrous metals such as copper, brass, aluminum, stainless, nickel and lead. We buy other items such as circuit boards from your electronic devices and buy precious metals. Most often we offer more money than local pawn shops and other gold and silver buyers for your precious metals and coins. We also accept many electronics including computers, monitors, copiers, many other household and mobile electronic devices. We have a onsite bin for your ferrous metals at our facility. We do not accept paper, glass or plastic.
We pay out cash for non-ferrous items to most our customers with most exceptions coming to our commercial customers and customers with larger quantities of material. We will always provide fast, friendly service. We also have a state certified truck scale onsite. Please call us with any questions.
